Arboricultural Association accreditation The Arboricultural Association has been operating the Approved Contractors scheme for over 25 years.
Its purpose is to promote good tree care practice.
To this end it examines an applicant company in a rigorous assessment process which aims not only to ensure that proper procedures are in place but also to test the arboricultural knowledge and job skills of the company's staff.
The assessment process involves external auditors observing tree surgery work currently underway as well as viewing work already completed. In addition, staff are questioned to test their understanding of tree behaviour and care.
The attention to detail and commitment to excellence of Benbow's highly skilled personnel has now been independently and properly recognised.
Benbow Brothers is one of only two Shropshire-based companies to have achieved this demanding quality standard and had their expertise acknowledged with Approved Contractor status.

Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) Invariably, it is a requirement for entry to all Approved Supplier lists that the applicant company demonstrate a sound Health & Safety management system is in place.
CHAS is a scheme developed to help this assessment process.
The objective of the CHAS assessment is to confirm that the company's health & safety arrangements meet a standard recognised and acceptable to local government bodies and major companies.
The review is carried out by independent auditors and looks in-depth at three areas:
- The company's health & safety policy statement.
- The company's health & safety organisation.
- Specific health & safety arrangements.
